President Ronald Reagan's second inauguration

January 20, 1985

President Reagan was inaugurated for the second time on January 21, 1985. Inauguration day is set by law as January 20, 1985, but if it falls on a Sunday, as it did in 1985, the public celebrations are moved to Monday. The public inauguration for 1985 was held on January 21, 1985. To be in compliance with the law, a small, private ceremony was held within the White House to inaugurate President Reagan on the proper day.
