Physical DescriptionA metal brass-toned paperweight. On the top of the paperweight is a metal plaque with a black background and gold text on the right side stating "UNKNOWN SERVICEMAN VIETNAM WAR 'BEGINNING OF THE JOURNEY' HAWAII-CALIFORNIA 17 MAY 1984 - 24 MAY 1984." On the plaque's left side is an image of the USS Brewton (FF-1086) insignia, a gray wolf animal holding a trident over a red and blue shield with a white star, lettered "DEDICATED DETERMINED PREPARED" on a ribbon at the top and "USS BREWTON DE-1086" at the bottom.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
