Physical DescriptionAn 18-kt gold brooch designed to look like a World War 2 era American Jeep. The front of the bumper on the jeep has text stating “1944-1984,” with diamond chips set into the star on the hood of the jeep and a ruby set into the face of the driver. The re-edition of the brooch was created for Mrs. Reagan by Mauboussin Jewelers.Historical NoteThe original jeep brooch was created in 1944 to celebrate the liberation of Paris.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
