Physical DescriptionA reproduction of a Classical Greek squat oinochoe, a wine jug, circa 480 BC. It has a polychrome white background with a painting of a woman playing an aulos (double flute), a bearded man pouring a liquid on the ground, and a woman playing a tympanum (tambourine). It was given during a visit of Boy Scouts from three nations, including Greece, to the White House, on July 26, 1984. While in the Family Theater, the delegation from Greece presented Counselor to the President Ed Meese with this jug for President Ronald Reagan.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
