Physical DescriptionA sterling silver cigarette box with a wood lined interior. The top of the box is engraved with the King and Queen of Jordan's signatures, along with the Royal Jordanian crest. The box was created by Deyhle and enclosed in a suede box for storage. Suede Box: 10 × 7 1/2 × 2 1/4 in. (25.4 × 19.1 × 5.7 cm)
Historical NoteKing Hussein of Jordan came for a working visit to the White House on May 29, 1985. While President Reagan and the king and Jordanian officials were meeting, Nancy Reagan had tea with Queen Noor in the White House residence Yellow Oval Room. There she gave her the silver box.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
