Physical DescriptionA framed collection of 27 commemorative Olympic pins. Each pin represents one of the sports that the United States Olympic team competed in during the 1984 Olympics. At the center of the setup is a metal plaque with blue text stating "UNITED STATES SUMMER OLYMPIC TEAM LOS ANGELES 1984" and a 1984 Team USA Olympic patch. The pins are contained in a plexiglass case with a black fabric background.
Historical NoteThe pins were given to President Reagan when he spoke to the athletes of American Summer Olympic team at Heritage Hall on the campus of the University of Southern California, the site of one of two Olympic villages for participating athletes. Following his remarks, the President went to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to participate in the opening ceremonies of the games.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
