Physical DescriptionA hand blown oxblood colored vase. The vase is done in the Amphora style by Maurice Pittet of Saint Prex Glasswork.
Historical NoteThe Oxblood glass amphora style blown glass vase with black handles and base made by Maurice Pittet of the Saint Prex Glassworks in 1932. The vase was presented to First Lady Nancy Reagan during a trip to Switzerland November 19, 1985, and was a gift on behalf of the town council and residents of Saint Prex, Switzerland. She went on a walking tour of the village Saint Prex accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Dessaux and
American and Swiss school children. The children exchanged flags, and they went on to the Clock Tower and to listen to a concert by L'ensemble Folklorique Geneve Chante, a traditional Swiss Alp Horn Band and singers. The Reagans were in Switzerland for the Geneva Summit.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
