Physical DescriptionA plaque with half of a San Francisco 49ers helmet mounted to a wooden backing. Below the helmet is a small metal plaque engraved ''ONE MORE FOR THE GIPPER, RONALD WILSON REAGAN SUPER BOWL XIX JANUARY 20, 1985." The helmet is covered with black signatures that include Bill Walsh, Tommy Hart, John Frank, Joe Montana, Paul Hackett, Roger Craig, Freddie Solomon, Mike Wilson, Dwaine Board, Earl Cooper, Bill Wilson, Russ Francis, Bill Ring, Dwight Clark, Bruce Collie, Matt Cavanaugh, and R.C. "Alley Oop" Owens.Historical NotePresident Reagan's second inauguration, on January 20, 1985, was the first (and only) time a Presidential inaugural fell on the same day as the Super Bowl. He had a priavte swearing in that day. President Reagan performed the coin toss for Super Bowl XIX in the Oval Office via satellite. The 49ers defeated the Miami Dolphins 38-16.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
