Physical DescriptionA set of three bronze medallions. One depicts "Our lady of Czestochowa" (.01a) One is of pope John Paul II (.02a) and the third is a medal for the Warsaw uprising. The image depicted in the obverse is of a man on his knees in front of a brick wall, holding a smaller human figure in his hands as he cries out. Near the man's leg is a gun. The text on the medallion states, "WARSAW UPRISING 1944-1984." On the verso of the medallion is a gold cross with text at the center stating "MONTE CASSINO MAJ 1944." Around the edge of the medal is text stating "1944 - YALTA - 1984, TO YOU SOLDIERS - TWICE BETRAYED." (.03a). All three are displayed in a polished wood chest (.04) on top of the chest is an engraved metal plaque stating "NATIONAL SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF CZESTOCHOWA DOYLESTOWN, PA. PAULINE FATHERS."

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
