Historical NoteSen. Robert W. Kasten (R-Wisconsin) gave President Ronald Reagan the Green Bay Packers jacket when he was at the Milwaukee Convention Center in Milwaukee, WI for a fundraiser for the senator on October 15, 1985. Sen Kasten said while presenting the jacket, "Mr. President, as you may know we’re all Green Bay Packers fans in Wisconsin these days, particularly after the Green Bay Packers seem to be doing so well. [Laughter] As you know when we were together in Oshkosh in June I gave you a pair of Osh Kosh B’Gosh overalls which I’m sure you’ve been able to use at the ranch. And now we in Wisconsin have decided that The Pack is Back. And what we’d like to do is to give you a Green Bay Packers jersey but it’s a very special Green Bay Packers jersey because it says The Pack is Back, and Mr. President, America is Back." President Reagan replied, "Thank you very much. And I mentioned having played football, so this, I treasure this especially. I was a guard. RIGHT guard."
The Packers were 3-3 at the point, and went 8-8 in 1985.
