Physical DescriptionA silver Hanukkah menorah, hanukiah, (a) with scrollwork branches, elongated jar-shaped candle cups, and four-footed base. The shamash holder (b) is detachable along with a small silver pitcher (c). This is an oil and wick menorah. The small silver pitcher would be used to fill each pitcher with oil accompanied by a wick. The silver is gently etched creating ridges along the stem. The shamash stands in the center set behind the rest of the menorah.
Historical NoteThe menorah was given by the American Friends of Lubavitch in their annual meeting with President Reagan in the Oval Office.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
