Physical DescriptionA bronze sculpture titled Call of the Wild depicts a stag with its head thrown back, standing on the pinnacle of a mountain. It is on an oval polished wood base with a plaue lettered “CALL OF THE WILD BY MANSEL OCHELTREE” on the front. It is etched “2/30 Mansel Ocheltree” with the image of a cactus in a box on a portion of the rock on the front.Historical NoteThe sculpture was presented in the Oval Office on April 14, 1982, along with Sen.Paul Laxalt (R-NV). During the Reagan administration it was on display in the White House West Wing Roosevelt Room and was on permanent display at the Reagan Library until 2010.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
