Hale, Rambeau, and Hopper are all wearing sailor caps. The back is dated October 19, 1940.
Historical NoteTugboat Annie Sails Again (1940) premiered on October 18, 1940 at the Roxy Theater in Tacoma, WA. In this sequel to Tugboat Annie (1933), "Tugboat" Annie Brennan (Marjorie Rambeau) continues to fued with Captain Bullwinkle (Alan Hale), this time with the help of sailor Eddie Kent (Ronald Reagan) and socialite Peggy Armstrong (Jane Wyman).
There were technically four members of the Reagan family in this film. Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman were married earlier that year, and Wyman was pregnant with their daughter Maureen. Neil Reagan also co-starred in the picture, the only movie the brothers acted in together.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
