Physical DescriptionA lacquerware bowl known as a soon-oke or hsun-ok (.01a). The bowl is designed to look like a temple and is overlaid with gold and various colored stones. Included with the bowl is a food tray (.01b) and a lid for the bowl (.01c ).
Historical NoteThe bowl was given when U Myo Aung came to the Oval Office to present his Diplomatic Credentials as the Ambassador of Burma to the United States in the Oval Office on September 15, 1986.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
