Physical DescriptionA woodgrain plaque with an image of the John M. Schooley Trophy, a large pyramid-shaped wooden trophy with a revolver mounted at the tip lettered "'THE JOHN M. SCHOOLEY TROPHY WORLD POLICE REVOLVER 4 MAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP" at the base, against a blue background. The image and the plaque have a gold border. Beneath the image is a brass plaque engraved "1985 NRA WORLD POLICE REVOLVER 4-MAN TEAM MATCH WORLD CHAMPIONS THE JOHN M. SCHOOLEY TROPHY" on the front. The back has both a tan suede kickstand and a black rope hanger. The back of the plaque is inscribed on the right, "SECRET SERVICE PISTOL TEAM 1985 [illegible] George Foley, Dale Holmes, [illegible], Charles E. North, Jr., and James Gilleland. On the left, a pink and white sticker with the text "Geyer Studio 132 NASSAU ST. NEW YORK, N.Y. 10038 (212) 227 4420" with a drawing of a scribe in pink.Historical NotePresident Ronald Reagan met with the members of the United States Secret Service Pistol Team in the Oval Office on March 13, 1986, where they gave him the John M. Schooley Trophy plaque. The USSS Pistol Team won the trophy for the World Police Pistol Four-Man team at the NRA National Police Shooting Championships that year. They brought their targets with them as well.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
