Physical DescriptionThis is an embroidered picture of a jelly bean jar. The jar is outlined in black thread with a labeled “JELLY BEANS” in red thread. Multi-colored jellybeans are embroidered in a satin stitch. The picture is in a black and gold frame. The back is open, leaving the reverse of the embroidery and the wooden stretchers, lettered “GRUMBACHER NEW YORK,” visible.Historical NoteThis particular jellybean design embroidery was probably a commercial pattern or kit, as other versions of this same design were given to President Ronald Reagan.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
