Physical DescriptionA wood statue of George Washington praying at Valley Forge that was designed to look like bronze. The base of the statue has a metal plaque engraved "Presented to PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN on the occasion of his becoming HONORARY CHAIRMAN FREEDOMS FOUNDATION AT VALLEY FORGE May 6, 1981."
Historical NoteRobert Miller, the President of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge presented this statue of Vice President George Bush on May 6, 1981, when President Ronald Reagan was named the Honorary Chairman of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
