Physical DescriptionThis is a set of 2 cloisonne and copper beer mugs. The motif depicts pine, bamboo, plum, and chrysanthemum over a cream-colored background separated by a navy blue border. One is flute-shaped, and the other is shaped like a water cooler glass.
Historical NoteNancy Reagan was given the mugs during a tea on March 20, 1981 for Mie Fukuda, the wife of the former Prime Minister of Japan Takeo Fukuda, when Takeo Fukuda visited President Reagan at the White House. Leonore Annenberg also attended the tea, which was held in the White House Library.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
