Physical DescriptionGold medallion commemorating the inauguration of President Doo-Hwan Chun of South Korea on March 3, 1981. The obverse features a portrait of Chun, and the reverse depicts a pair of phoenixes over a plum blossom, with an inscription in Korean and English "Inauguration of H. E. Chun Doo Hwan The 12th President of the Republic of Korea 1981.3.3." The medallion is in a blue velvet box with the same design as the reverse in gold on white satin inside the lid. The coin indentation inside the box is printed with information about the coin in Korean and English. “Composition: Gold 18k, Diameter: 40mm, Weight: 53gr"

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
