Physical DescriptionA silver and black rectangular belt buckle with polished black stone set in silver in the center. The metal on the outer edge has a cut rope design, and an inset is made of black leather. The center stone is surrounded by a smooth metal ring on the outside and a double-beaded design on the inner edge. The stone is black and flecked with gray. A silver-colored metal fastener is on the back, and the back has a design of four quadrants made of alternating sections of horizontal and vertical ridges.
Historical NoteThe buckle was given to President Reagan through Sen. Slade Gorton (R-WA).

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
