Physical DescriptionA George V British penny. On the obverse is an Uncrowned bust facing left engraved "GEORGIUS V DEI GRA:BRITT:OMN:REX FID:DEF:IND:IMP:" [George the Fifth by the Grace of God King of all the Britains Defender of the Faith Emperor of India] engraved by Edgar Bertram MacKennal. On the reverse is a Seated Britannia, facing right, trident in left hand, shield in right hand lettered "ONE PENNY 1928" engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon.Historical NoteThe George V penny with the smaller portrait was minted 1928-1936. The gifter called this coin a lucky penny.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
