Physical DescriptionAn embroidered picture of a jelly bean jar. The jar is outlined in black thread with a labeled lettered “JELLY BEANS” in red thread. There are multi-colored jellybeans embroidered in a satin stitch. On the right is embroidered “GMF” in black. The picture is on a burgundy mat with a white inner border and a silver frame. On the back lower center there is a black sticker lettered “Moline Art Gallery and frame shop, ltd. 1415 FIFTH AVENUE MOLINE, ILLINOIS 61265 309-761-1202” in gold. To the right is a red, white, and blue address label with the gifter’s name and address, the American Lung Association’s logo (a double red cross) on the left, and “FIGHT EMPHYSEMA” in red across the bottom border.
Historical NoteThis particular jellybean design embroidery was probably a commercial pattern or kit, as other versions of this same design were given to President Ronald Reagan.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
