Physical DescriptionA shadow Box of Widow's Mites in a gold and black frame. There are two aluminum Israeli agoras (Israeli pound), one displaying obverse and one reverse mounted on the center front on a green felt backing. The coin on the left displays the reverse, "1 Agora," and the date in Hebrew. The one on the right displays the obverse, three ears of barley, and "Israel" in Hebrew and Arabic. Yellow cloth cut spiked edges with typed letters on the felt above and below the coins. The top one is lettered "JERUSALEM MARCH 2, 1980," and the bottom one is "THE WIDOW'S TWO MITES MARK 13:42-44, And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites…"Historical NoteMark 12:42-44 King James Version (KJV) states "42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
