Physical DescriptionA battery-powered radio shaped like the “Belle of Louisville” steamboat. The boat has wood-colored decking and grey walls with orange text accents.
Historical NoteThe Belle of Louisville was built in 1914 by James Rees & Sons Company, Pittsburgh, PA, and named the Idlewild. It was rechristened Belle of Louisville in 1962. The ship is now a National Historic Landmark, and is the only purely steam-powered and paddlewheel-propelled boat in still operation.
The model was given as a gift for President Reagan's 70th birthday.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
