Physical DescriptionA framed pewter relief of Tama Jim Wilson is mounted on a green and blue Scottish tartan background. Above the relief is an engraved metal plaque: "Tama Jim Wilson Award -1981, presented by the Wilson descendants to Ronald Wilson Reagan, an American of Scottish heritage, for his outstanding contribution to America."
Historical NoteJames "Tama Jim" Wilson (1835-1920) was a Scottish-born American politician who served as the United States Secretary of Agriculture from 1897-1913, the longest-serving United States Cabinet member. The modern Wilson family claimed to be related to President Ronald Reagan through his mother's side.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
