Physical DescriptionThis is a Delft blue jar with a floral blue and white pattern and a separate lid. The lid is topped with a finial bearing the Royal Dutch Lion emblem.Historical NoteIt was given when Dries van Agt met with Vice President Bush March 31, 1981. The Vice President and the Prime Minister met in the Roosevelt Room, and then they and their delegations held a working luncheon in the Cabinet Room at the White House. President Reagan was supposed to meet with van Agt, but he was recovering at George Washington University Hospital from the surgery to remove the bullet from the assassination attempt the day before.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
