Physical DescriptionAn unframed cartoon drawing of President Reagan, wearing a brown suit, receiving a gift from Santa Claus with the U.S. Capitol Building behind them to the left. The white box has a green ribbon around it and is lettered, “TO RONALD REAGAN THE PRESIDNCY U.S.A.” Written across the top of the drawing is “Merry Christmas A MOST CHERISHED GIFT” and “PROTECT IT, CHERISH IT, SERVE WITH HONOR” across the bottom. The bottom right corner is signed “BILL CARNAHAN 12/14/80”. The verso is blank.
Historical NoteIt was a pre-inaugural gift, received at Christmas 1980.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
