Physical DescriptionA silver cigarette box with a stone turquoise inlaid double-headed eagle and serpent at its center. The inside of the cigarette box is lined with dark-toned wood. The bottom of the box is partially stamped with "Plateado, ____ttaxcco_ TM-01, Mexico."
Historical NoteThis silver cigarette box has an eagle and serpent design, symbols of Mexico, inlaid with crushed Mexican turquoise. It was given to First Lady Nancy Reagan in advance of President Reagan's trip to Mexico for the North-South Summit in October 1981.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
