Physical DescriptionAn off-white ceramic plate with ridged edges. It is lettered in gold around the rim: "THE GREAT SEAL OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." In the center is a bas-relief of the presidential seal with gold embellishment. On verso is "Cheryl Christiansen Waterloo, Iowa July 1980".
Historical NoteThe plate was brought to the Inauguration of President Ronald Reagan in 1981 by the gifter. While she was not able to give it directly to the new president, she did present it to Sen. Roger Jepsen (R-Iowa) in a meeting in his office with five hundred fellow constituents.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
