Physical DescriptionA 3-panel original cartoon titled Agatha Crumm. Panel 1: Wealthy cookie company owner Agatha Crumm and her secretary Winsome are exiting her office, the door lettered AGATHA CRUMM PRESIDENT.” Crumm is wearing black dress with a white ruffled front, a black hat with a rosette flower, and is carrying a black clutch purse. Winsome is helping her into a white coat. Winsome is wearing a white turtleneck sweater, a black pencil skirt, and glasses. Crumm asks, "WINSOME, IS EVERYTHING SET FOR MY MEETING WITH PRESIDENT REAGAN?” Panel 2: Winsome: “YES, MS. CRUMM, THE COMPANY BAND WILL PLAY 'HAIL TO THE CHIEF.” Crumm: “THAT'S NICE…” Panel 3: Crumm walks off saying “HAVE THEM PLAY A TUNE FOR PRESIDENT REAGAN TOO." The third panel is lettered “©1981 King Features Synicates, Inc. World rights reserved.” along the left edge, “2-6” on the bottom, and “HOEST” in a box in the lower right. The third panel is also inscribed, “TO PRESIDENT REAGAN AND MRS. REAGAN WITH MY PERSONAL BEST WISHES FOR YOUR SUCCESS – BILL HOEST” in blue ink. The cartoon is in a gold frame with a navy mat. Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
