Physical DescriptionA stationery box made of wood with a geometrical design of inlaid mother-of-pearl. The box has a locking hinged lid and a key.Historical NoteIt was given during a visit of then-Egyptian Vice President Hosni Mubarak when he visited the White House on October 2, 1981. Mubarak would become the President of Egypt less than two weeks later, on October 14, after President Anwar Sadat died after being shot during a victory parade in Cario on October 6. Mubarak was wounded in the attack.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
