Physical DescriptionA small wooden ship designed to look like a dragon is filled with numerous human figures; some rowing, and others hold decorative emblems. At the center of the ship is a small golden building. The ship is painted with gold leaf on the exterior and red on the inside. The figurines are painted white and blue. The flag of Thailand is mounted on the back of the boat. The boat is mounted on a wooden stand with a fabric base and a lid made of plexi. On the two long sides of the base is a small metal plaque with an engraved inscription.Historical NoteThis model of a Thai dragon boat was presented by delegates of the International Federation of Religions during a meeting with political leaders at the annual UN Non-Governmental Organization Conference in Washington, DC in September of 1981. It is in the shape of a dragon and flies the Thai flag, with miniature models of the rowers and the drummers.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
