Physical DescriptionThis is a seal for Salem, Virginia, a dark blue patch with white text and the design of a white dove of peace carrying an olive branch in the center. The seal is inside a dark brown wood frame under glass.Historical NoteThe Northwest String Band brought the plaque with them when they visited Washington, DC in August 1981. The seal was given on behalf of the City Council of Salem, VA.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
