Physical DescriptionA Wajima gold floral pattern lacquerware box (.01a) with drawers and removable lid (.01b). Inside the box is a pamphlet for "LACQUER WARE Shikki, ARTISTIC LACQUER WARES AND INDUSTRIAL ART WORKS BY APPOINTMENT TO THE IMPERIAL HOUSEHOLD Yamada Heiando Co., Ltd" (.01c).
Historical NoteIn April-May 1986, President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan visited Indonesia and Japan on their Far East trip. President Reagan attended the G7 Economic Summit in Tokyo and attended the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Nakasone.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
