Physical DescriptionA clear crystal paperweight made by Tiffany & Co. The paperweight has 12 sides; one of them is etched “EDWARD I. KOCH, MAYOR, CITY OF NEW YORK, SALUTES THE UNITED NATIONS AT 40, OCTOBER 1985” over an etched seal of the United Nations. Historical NoteThe paperweight was given after President Ronald Reagan visited New York, NY October 23-25, 1985 where he addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations and met with Soviet Foreign Minister Eduard Shvardnadze.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
