Physical DescriptionA trinket box made from an ancient Roman glass dish and lid. Consists of a round glass dish (a) in blue-green glass with gold and silver-tone metallic flecs; and a lighter-tone matching lid (b). Fitted with contemporary silver base with three legs and three leaves and silver top/handle with with leaves and flowers.
Historical NoteThis ancient glass vessel had a contemporary silver lid and legs added to it by artist Miriam Hirszowicz. It was given during a working visit of Prime Minister Yikzhak Shamir in 1987.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
