Physical DescriptionA reproduction of a pre-columbian pendant depicting a bird shaped figure made out of 18-kt gold.
Historical NoteThe pendant was given during the working visit of Óscar Arias Sánchez, President of Costa Rica, on December 4, 1986. The two Presidents met in the Oval Office, had lunch in the Roosevelt Room, and spoke to reporters in the Rose Garden at the White House.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
