Physical DescriptionA cut stainless steel flat sculpture in the shape of a silhouette of a nude woman with long hair flying through the air. It is inscribed “Pascal ‘82” on one leg.Historical NoteThe sculpture was presented to First Lady Nancy Reagan at a black tie awards dinner during her Los Angeles trip November 13-16, 1981, and came via the American Embassy in Israel. The Scopus Awards were held on November 15, 1981. Frank Sinatra, Edie Gorme, Steve Lawrence, Kenny Rogers, Gregory Peck, Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, Peter McCoy were also in attendance. The National Scopus Award is the highest honor given by the American Friends of the Hebrew University. It was named for Mount Scopus in Jerusalem. 1981 recepients include Nancy Reagan, David Rose, Burton Joseph, Jill & Leon Uris, Edward Kennedy, Edward Bronfman, Dianne Feinstein, and Betty Ford.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
