Physical DescriptionA Pony Express commemorative coin. The coin's obverse features an image of a man on horseback jumping over a log. The text states, "HASHKNIFE PONY EXPRESS RIDE NAVAJO COUNTY SHERIFF'S POSSE INC. PETRIFIED FOREST TO HOLBROOK, PETRIFIED FOREST 75TH ANNIVERSARY." The verso of the coin depicts an image of a man on the back of a rearing horse waving his hat above his head. The text on the coin states, "24TH ANNUAL HASHKNIFE PONY EXPRESS RIDE HONORING 'BUFFALO BILL' CODY, 1982 ARIZONA."Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
