Physical DescriptionA one sheet theatrical release poster for the 1949 film East Side, West Side. The top has a blue background with a couple in an embrace (Ava Gardner and James Mason), a woman with red hair in a green dress (Barbara Stanwyck), a black and white image of a woman in an off the shoulder white dress (Cyd Charisse), and an inset with a sepia photo of a man in a suit (Van Heflin). Next to Stanwyck is white text stating: "When you're married to a man other women pursue!" Historical NoteIn East Side, West Side, set in 1946, New York socialite Jessie Bourne (Barbara Stanwyck) suspects her husband Brandon (James Mason) is cheating on her, especially now that the women he previously had an affair with, Isabel Lorrison (Ava Gardner), is back in town. Nancy Davis co-starred as Jessie's friend Helen Lee.
The poster is signed by Mervyn LeRoy, the film's director, to First Lady Nancy Reagan.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
