Physical DescriptionA Lalique crystal eagle head on a wooden base with a plaque reading "USO-LOS ANGELES-DISTINGUISHED AMERICAN AWARD-FIRST LADY NANCY REAGAN-MARCH 14, 1985."Historical NoteNancy Reagan was presented with the award at a dinner-dance in the Beverly Wilshire's Grand Ballroom, in front of guests Dolores and Bob Hope, James Stewart, Ed McMahon, Connie Stevens, Dean Martin, George Peppard, Virginia and Holmes Tuttle, Ruth and Tom Jones, Dr. and Mrs. Armand Hammer, Loretta Young, Ginger Rogers, and Fred Hayman. During the administration it was on display in the office of Jane Erkenbeck, Mrs. Reagan's personal secretary.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
