Physical DescriptionA crystal paperweight etched with “PRESIDENT’S CITATION PROGRAM FPR PRIVE SECTOR INITIATIVES” and a “C” with “WE CAN WE CARE” on a flag.Historical NoteThe tetrahedron was given to President Ronald Reagan on September 29, 1988 when he hosted the C-Flag Award Ceremony in the Rose Garden and met with participants of the C-Flag program in the Oval Office. At the ceremony President Reagan said, “This is a very special day for me. It's the last time I'll get to present the Presidential Citations for Private Sector Initiatives. This is a program that we started here in 1984 to help recognize the outstanding volunteer efforts of business organizations and dedicated people like you. Today there are some 4,500 "C'' flags waving across America. And I have to confess: I'm a guy who loves to wave the flag. [Laughter] Partly, that's because Betsy Ross and I were childhood friends. [Laughter]” After he passed out crystal tetrahedrons to the recipients, William Taylor, the Chair of the President's Citation Program for the Private Sector, suprised President Reagan with this special award. He replied, "Well, I thank you very much. You are the ones who have done all the work, and I guess I just thought of something."
