Physical DescriptionA white ceramic teapot shaped as the head of Margaret Thatcher, based on the Spitting Image puppet of the Prime Minister. There is a round handle attached to the back of her head, and the spout is her nose. The lid is the crown of her head.
Historical NoteCaricaturists Roger Law and Peter Fluck, together as Fluck & Law, created the satirical TV puppet show Spitting Image, featuring puppet versions of world leaders. They designed this teapot in the shape of Margaret Thatcher. The gifters were in England at the same time as the president's official visit in 1982, and purchased the teapot on their vacation for President Reagan.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
