Physical DescriptionA circular lipped sterling silver dish. In the center is engraved the badge of the Canadian governor-general, which is the crest of the Royal Arms of Canada: a lion passant guardant or imperially crowned proper holding a maple leaf in the dexter paw. Below is an engraved signature, "Jeanne Sauvé," in the script. On the side are British sterling silver marks: lion passant (facing left), uncrowned leopard's head, facing forward, and "M" in the script, indicating the piece was made in London, England, UK, in 1986. The maker's mark is unclear but is an inverted triangle with a "C" as one of the letters.Historical NoteIt was given during the 1988 G7 Economic Summit, which was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada June 19-21, 1988. It is engraved with the badge of the Canadian Governor General, which is the crest of the Royal Arms of Canada.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
