Physical DescriptionA gold commemorative 50 Yuan coin. The obverse of the coin depicts a relief from the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Chinese characters are across the top, and "1987" is at the bottom. The reverse of the coin depicts a panda drinking water with bamboo to the right. There are Chinese characters and ".999 1/2 OUNCE Au" across the top and 50 元 at the bottom.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
