Historical NoteDavid Eugene "Elvis" McCafferty (1938-2012) developed his own breed of horses, McCafferty's American White Draft Horses, beginning in 1973. They were supposedly descendants of Silver, the famous white horse from the Lone Ranger show. The all-white draft horses weigh between 1500-1900 pounds. These horses were also seen parading in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Pegus at the Kentucky Derby, and the Rose Bowl Parade.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
