Physical DescriptionAn oval pin depicting a Montana landscape is made of translucent agate stone from that state. The bezel is made of 10kt Black Hills gold on sterling silver. There is a closed pin back, and the back is engraved “KLAPMEIER” at the bottom.
Historical NoteIt was made by Ed Klapmeier, a Miles City Montana maker who used agates in his work. It was given to First Lady Nancy Reagan during a trip to Montana October 28, 1982.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
