Physical DescriptionA commemorative issue coin for the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Cologne Cathedral. On the obverse is text stating, “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND DEUTSCHE 5 MARK F 1980.” The text surrounds an image of an eagle. On the verso of the coin is text stating “DER KÖLNER DOM 100 JAHRE VOLLENDET · 1880 1980 ·.” with the image of the cathedral. The coin's edge is inscribed “ZEUGNIS DES GLAUBENS - ZEICHEN DER EINHEIT.”

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
