On the obverse is text stating, “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND DEUTSCHE 5 MARK F 1980.” The text surrounds an image of an eagle. On the verso of the coin is text stating “DER KÖLNER DOM 100 JAHRE VOLLENDET · 1880 1980 ·.” with the image of the cathedral.
