Physical DescriptionThis is a hinged wooden box with a floral inlay design on the lid. The interior is lined in blue velvet, and a brass plaque inside the lid is lettered “Presented By The First Lady Mrs. Imelda R. Marcos Republic of the Philippines” in red.Historical NoteIt was given during a state visit of President Marcos September 16, 1982, and held a mother of pearl evening bag.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
