Physical DescriptionA commemorative coin that honors the Statue of Liberty on its 100th anniversary. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty with birds flying in the background. Inscribed on the coin are the years "1886" and "1986," along with the words "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE." The reverse displays a tree-like design with the inscriptions "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE," the denomination "100F," and the year "1986." Also included with the coin is a navy leather case.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
